HELLO, ALL. this is jeeps, picking up yet another one-name wonder to add to my repertoire (i swear, i swear it wasn't intentional), penny from the big bang theory. she's a good-natured, girly sort of person who works at the cheesecake factory while she waits for her inevitable stardom to take effect. more info about her can be found here!

joining penny will be dr. sheldon cooper, [personal profile] phd, played by amber. she's already added sheldon's apartment to the doors post so he won't have a complete nervous breakdown from too much change. sheldon is a nerd, terrible at reading faces and social cues, and probably smarter than you. more info about him can be found here.

⇨ OUR FIRST MONTH HAS CONCLUDED. Thank you so much for making it a success, guys, as well as for being patient while we've figured things out. Very soon we're going to put up an OOC post asking for your comments on what you like about the game so far and any suggestions you may have to improve it, so maybe let that percolate in your brain a bit in the meantime.

⇨ And now to get down to business! The following list of characters did not meet activity for the month and therefore have one strike. Don't worry too much if you're on here — just make sure you meet activity next month. If you need to refresh yourself on the requirements, they can be found in the rules.

Expandone strike )

And the following characters are automatically removed for having no activity within the first month.

Expandauto-removal )

If you have any questions about these, please comment or contact us.

⇨ On a somewhat related note, unless there are any protests, I would like to change the tag format for responses to prose logs. So far, the person who posts the log opener has tagged the entry with their character's ! tag, and all replies to the entry with plain tags. (So, to use some random examples, it looks something like this: !castiel, [prose log], rita mordio, spock, sebastian michaelis)

However, because responses to prose logs count as posts and not threads, it would be simpler for me if ALL prose responses were tagged with the ! tag, regardless of who posts the opener. (So it would look like this: !castiel, !rita mordio, !spock, !sebastian michaelis, [prose log])

If you have an thoughts on this, pro or con, go ahead and comment; otherwise I'll edit existing posts in a few days to reflect this.

And keys have been sent! Please check your character's inbox to find out what they've received. Everything should be in order, but if there are any issues please let me know.

Even though everyone was told simultaneously about the keys and accompanying clues that their characters were given, that doesn't necessarily mean the characters all have to receive them (or notice that they have a key on them) right away, so you don't need to rush to get any posts in about it. But as of this post your characters can start talking about their keys at any time. This leg of the plot will end (i.e., everyone participating should have communicated in some way with the other characters about the key they've received) at 12:00 AM PST on February 1st. Information on the second half of the plot will come soon after that.

Just a reminder that if you would like to participate in the Keys to the Kingdom plot, you have an hour left to sign up! I'm also willing to wait for any stragglers as long as you comment here and let me know you'll be sending your PM along soon. This will be a good way to get in any last-minute posts before the activity check.

ETA: I'll edit this post when it's past the point of no return (i.e., I'm getting ready to "send" the keys) and won't be accepting any more submissions. Until then, you can continue to sign up.

ETA 2: Aaand we're no longer accepting sing-ups! Thanks, guys!

It's been nearly a month since the first slew of arrivals into this little niche of space and time. Perhaps it's even been long enough that you have become accustomed to waking up here, despite its strangeness, its impossibility. Perhaps not. Either way, waking up on one particular morning is going to have an entirely different novelty to it than what Pandora's has provided thus far.

In a couple of days, your character will awake to find a key on their person. None of these keys will look exactly alike — one may appear to be something that would fit in the knob of a modern apartment, while another may be a large skeleton key better suited to an old castle. One thing each key will have in common, however, is a length of string tied to it with a label at the end. And on the label will be, well, anything. It might be a poem, or a drawing, or a thumbprint, or a sticker. Whatever it is, it's meaningless to you. Maybe you throw it away. Maybe you're feeling ambitious and attempt to fit it to one of the many doors in Pandora's (you won't have any success). Maybe you show it to someone, and — if it's the right someone — you discover that what was meaningless to you is most certainly not meaningless to them. In fact, it symbolizes one of the deepest desires of their heart: a loved one they have lost, or an object they haven't been able to find for years, or something they hope to accomplish.

Starting at the time of this post, you will have 36 hours to sign up for this plot. Your participating character (or characters!) will receive a key with another character's "clue" attached to it, and a key with the clue relevant to their own deepest desire will be given to another character. You, the player, won't know who has your character's clue, nor will you know who the clue your character is holding belongs to. To sign up, send a PM to [personal profile] ajar with the appropriate character journal, containing a description of their clue. (For example, Harry Potter's may be a drawing of a Snitch, indicating his deep desire to win the Quidditch World Cup.) DO NOT POST THE CLUES IN THE COMMENTS. Go ahead and talk amongst yourselves and indicate that you're signing up, but the clues themselves should remain a secret.

Keys will be assigned and distributed soon after sign-ups are over, and your characters can start posting about them any time after 5:00 AM PST on the 28th. If you can't get around to posting immediately, that's okay; your character can find the key on them any time between the distribution and midnight on the 1st. Please feel free to comment with any questions!

TO BE CONTINUED.

First of all, PANDORA'S HAS BEEN OPEN FOR A WEEK... ish. And you all are beyond amazing. I've experienced many moments of giddy joy over the last several days, and I hope you're all having as much fun as I am. I just wanted to give a head's up about some changes I've made over at [personal profile] ajar. Since they're fairly minor and I have a rampaging headache, I'll keep it short and sweet.

1) People have been adding some really cool areas to the doors post, and you can always head over there to check them out, but I've also added all of the canon locations to the taken characters list to make it a little easier to find them, rather than having to scroll through the replies for the one you want. Also, some people have discovered this trick already, but if you would like to include images to supplement the rest of the information you can always feel free to edit those in later or delete and repost your comment (depending on whether you have a paid account or not!).

2) I realised today that I had completely neglected something I meant to do earlier, which was provide a header template for prose logs. Headers aren't required, and you can delete and fiddle with the sections I've suggested as much as you want, but it might help your fellow players figure out what they're about to read and how they're meant to interact with it. You can find the header in the rules under the "playing the game" section. It also includes a note that no matter what, you need to warn for any explicit sexual, violent or other potentially triggering content. We welcome realistic, in-character representations of these things, but we don't want to catch anyone by surprise, either. And always cut tag your posts when you are c&p'ing an entire, completed log into the main entry, for those of you who like to conduct your logging elsewhere and then transfer it over.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE! You know what this means, right? Hungover roleplaying! Yes, I deliberately planned it that way. I figure people will be in too much pain to be self-conscious. So have some orders of business before we start playing.

- We will begin at 5:00 p.m. PST! Here is a handy conversion tool to figure out what time that is in your part of the world.

- If you're not already listed on the player contact post and haven't commented, please do so! I will be giving character journals posting access to [community profile] pandoras right before we start, but you won't be able to post if other players don't have a way to contact you.

- Tell your friends! You guys have done an awesome job of promoting us so far, but sometimes the best way to get people to app is to make them wish they were having as much fun as you, so once we get started feel free to torment your loved ones with links to your threads. (As always, we prefer not to be explicitly advertised on any RP-related comms, but we love word of mouth and call it squishy.)

THAT'S IT. I'M EXCITED, GUYS. Also I may throw up on you, but that's another useful aspect of starting on New Year's, because I can always blame alcohol.

I GUESS IT'S MY TURN.

'ello, all! i'm jeeps, and i'll be your mod for the duration. please keep your hands and feet inside at all times ...or just flail about wildly, whatever. i live in california, i like pink, and i play the following dorks —

spock ([personal profile] logic) from star trek (the new version), who is a vulcan and will find this place and every single one of you quite illogical, tyvm.
merlin ([personal profile] sorcerer) from, uh, merlin, who is very powerful and well-meaning but not always the sharpest sword in the armoury, thanks for that one, arthur.
zuko ([personal profile] honorific) from avatar: the last airbender, who is fresh from becoming fire lord and so has a whole new set of things to be short-tempered and emo-teen about, his m.o. throughout the series.

— or, as i like to call them: cher, madonna, and the artist formerly known as. i swear i didn't pick my characters based solely on how many names they have. they all have their pertinent info posted in their respective journals along with ways of contacting me.

as you can see, i don't like to acknowledge my shift key exists very often, lest it get uppity (GET IT GET IT i am such an accidental genius), but i do try to type properly for more official orders of business. so consider the next paragraphs to be in the name of not taking up space with an extra post.

now, we're not completely on track for starting play on the 1st — unless we get a few more apps in the next four-ish days. that's plenty of time, but as it stands we'll only have a grand total of two or three people who will be around and ready to play on the first. i know you guys have friends who are definitely apping, so now that the holidays are winding down it's a perfect time to pester them to get it done! remind them how easy the app is & how much you love and need them!

also, very soon i will be making a locked contact post to this comm that will list all of the ways you're willing to be contacted by your fellow players, so when you see that please remember to comment! this should keep other locked posts from being necessary for folks who don't want to advertise their personal info to the internet at large.

and that's everything! jeeps out.
